Green Initiatives

Green Sofas? Yes.

Green Business-Smart Initiatives? of Course!

As the awareness and concern for our environment continues to change the way we think, live and do business, the Becker Furniture World Home Center has implemented several business initiatives to join in the effort to be responsible with our natural resources. These endeavors save us money, help our environment, and just make good business sense. The following are just some of the ways we have gone green.

  • The replacement of our high-pressured sodium and metal halide lights in our distribution center with new, economical, energy-saving fluorescent fixtures and bulbs.
  • The recycling of our office paper.
  • The recycling of cans and bottles in our break rooms.
  • The baling of our cardboard which we sell to be recycled.
  • Our mattress exchange program in which we accept mattresses to be recycled.
  • The installation of motion sensors in our distribution center aisles, eliminating the cost to light the aisles when they are not in use.
  • The installation programmable thermostats in all our facilities.
  • The recycling of all used pallets.
  • The baling of our plastic which we sell to be recycled.
  • The zoning of our lighting in the Distribution Center so the lights can be turned off when work is longer being performed in a specific area.
  • The baling of packaging foam which we sell to be recycled.
  • The replacement of numerous metal halide lights with new, economical, energy-saving fluorescent fixtures and bulbs.
  • The recycling of any used steel mechanisms and frames which we sell to be recycled.
